We do the research.

You make the choice.

Don't buy an Oster Hand Blender unless you want results like this:

That is a Oster hand blender.

Maybe some metal shavings in your blended goodies?

No?

Then stay away from the Oster hand blenders and get other blenders instead.

There are five 'amazing' entries into this review site.

By amazing I mean amazingly horrific. Most of them sport the same features (and major issues) as all the others with only minor differences.

So we are going to cover all five of them here, four models: The Oster Hand Blender 2605, 2609, 2613, and 2614 all together, where I will cover the elements they all share, and point out the subtle differences of each one for you. Then we will move on to the Oster 3-in-1, Hand blender, chopper and electric knife Model 2619, which is the hand blender with the most difference.

To start with Oster is a complete let down in every way for its hand blenders only one of them has a variable speed dial instead of the simple two speed control. While the 2613, 2614, and the 2609 all have a two speed high and low setting, the 2605 Model comes with a variable speed dial.

The Oster 2613

While all the models come with a blending cup, the Oster Hand Blender Model 2605 is also the only one that comes with a chopping attachment. All the models are also equipped with a stainless steel S-blade that they claim is for durability and strength, sadly it's probably the only thing that will not break on this garbage.

Customer Reviews are varied slightly among the models though, so lets go over some of the biggest complaints and an over all customer satisfaction.

Let's start with the Oster 2605:

What is that strange plastic burning smell? That is the plastic that is weakened from the heat allowing the blender rod to fall out completely!

The reports of this are very regular as well, I would say about 35-40% are prone to this. Even with the one year replacement, I would not risk it. Those that have not had those problems give it high marks for its versatility even if it's not as strong as some of the other hand blenders like the ones from Braun

So the over all rating of this blender I would have to give about a three for this review.

Let's move on to the Oster 2614:

I will make this one short, and sweet. Stay away from this blender. The gears are tiny, made of plastic that MELTS under any kind of normal usage.

Most breakage with the Oster hand blenders happen after just the first use! Cracked bases, melted engines and plastic, grinding sounds from the motor. This is the most disgusting hand blender I have ever seen in my life, and what is worse, it is put out by Oster, a company that I would have thought put out some of the most reliable equipment I had known.

If you really want to buy this hand blender, send your 25 dollars to me, I have some plastic I can melt and drop into your smoothie. 0/5 stars.

Oster Model 2609:

This is the THIRD failure in the Oster hand blender line. Metal flakes coming off the motors while blending, cracked shafts, burning electronic smells. This seems prone too many of the same problems as the 2614 and the 2605. There is no real reason to restate every problem that was stated in the other two models, this one is just more of the same.

Oster Model 2613:

You guessed it. The fourth of the same blender has the SAME problems. Not one of these blenders would I recommend not even for the 'cheap disposable' kind.

I put a high value on quality and durability, and I can overlook many things but this is not something that ever needs to be in the hands of someone who wants to do blending, strange smells, smoke, melted plastic, metal shavings, broken casing on purchase. Stay away from this garbage.

Oster 3 in 1, Hand Blender, Chopper, and Electric Knife Model 2619:

This model comes with a 350 watt motor and a chopper with electric knife attachment and while it does not seem to have as many problems as the others, it is still a disappointment.

A weak motor that drives all three functions, a horrifically hard to press button with a cheap rubber cover. I really cant say that I would give this to anyone as a gift or even buy it for myself. There are simply better products on the market.
