Do you know where The Oster Blender got the "Beehive" name? Was the Oster Blender Classic Beehive design the first thing Oster made? Nope. But the "Beehive" blender got its name from what Oster did start out making. Hair Clippers. Back in 1924 a man named John Oster started a company, obviously named Oster. John saw a market that was relatively untapped for hand clipped women's hair. It took him four years to develop but then, the new motor driven clippers (The great grand father to what we see in salons today!) appeared in the hands of hair dressers everywhere. From then on, Oster knew that he could only go up.
The John Oster Manufacturing Company was the choice of pro's in the industry when it came to hair clippers and other such utensils, and in 1946 John decided that it was about time to move forward and move beyond barbers and into the home. Knowing how much work is involved in the kitchen he purchased Stevens Electric. That is right, the same company who invented one of the first blenders way back in 1923. With his new investment he started working and not too long after he started his work, he came out with the first "Osterizer" blender, and while this product took off better than most could have dreamed, Oster started to touch on other small appliances to get that name as visible as he could. Over time blenders became a more vital role doing more and more to prepare foods like chopping and mincing and pureeing. By now Oster had grown into almost every inch of the kitchen role. From bread-makers to toasters it was a status symbol in the home. That never slowed down John Oster though, he went on to create and perfect his craft all the way until 1960 when Sunbeam acquired the company Corporation. Today, even now in the blenders, you can see the "Beehive" hair style present in his blenders. From hair, to blenders, Oster has done it all. What kind of blenders can the Oster name offer you? Let's take a look together.
